Group Norms

- Because we believe that every voice is vital, we will . . .
- Listen to each other’s ideas, and take all ideas seriously.
- Prioritize opportunities for brainstorming without judgment.
- Make space to ensure that everyone interested in sharing has that opportunity without interruption.
- Because we value respect, we will. . .
- Respect each other time we will end meetings on time, and stay on track in our meetings to meet our goals.
- Have a facilitator who is able to provide support and conflict management to uphold our group norms.
- Be courteous in all communications (in-person, phone, email, etc.)
- We will not call each other after hours.
- We will not take it personally if another member takes a while to respond.
- Because we value kindness . . .
- We will lead with kindness because you never know what someone is experiencing outside of the council, and we will trust that everyone is doing their best.
- All members are able to leave at any point, for any reason, without question.
- Because we believe that everyone deserves to feel safe . .
- Information shared within the council or council membership is confidential and private unless permission is given.
- The stories told in our meetings will not be shared without consent.
- Everyone has the ability to pass in any group sharing without question, and silence will be respected.
- Because we value collaboration we will . . .
- Set clear goals that we can all work towards.
- Respect everyone’s ability to speak from their own experiences.
- Because we want to enjoy our meetings we will . . .
- Support each other.
- Make our meetings as accessible as possible.
- Encourage members to do whatever they need to be comfortable (including having snacks)!
